Meet the scientists

Cancer is often discussed in terms of statistics – such as incidence, survival and its tragic opposite, mortality. Behind each of these statistics are real people battling cancer every day, all across the globe.
Fighting alongside cancer patients, their families and their doctors are other real people, most of whom the patients will never meet. These are the scientists who are committed to saving lives by unlocking the mysteries of cancer. Doctors can only prescribe treatments that exist; discoveries by scientists in one country improve treatment options around the world.
Some scientists focus on very specific areas of cancer research, while others span several scientific disciplines and cancer types. Meet some of the scientists at the Institute of Cancer Research, the Foundation’s current funding priority, and see why we are so hopeful for a future in which cancer is no longer a life threatening disease.
